Hospitality / Resorts | Zhejiang | China | Completed

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Service : Architecture Full Scope of Services

Size (GFA): 17,000 m²

Scattered over 5 parcels amongst Xinchang’s scenic valley, 4 parcels of the New Chedi Xinchang Resort fronts onto a clear and placid but at times of heavy rain - fast flowing gushing river. This winding Hanfei River is flanked by enchanting riverside tea plantations and majestic and time sculpted stony cliffs. The 5th site of the resort is located on a hilltop above this scenic and serene landscape, featuring Events and Function reception pavilion and sunset lounge bar where guests can take in panoramic views of the valley, including the famous 19 Peaks of Xinchang, surrounding mountains, the valleys and the winding Han Fei River, within which the resort is perfectly embedded. In keeping with GHM hotel and resort’s philosophy, the designers of Chedi Xinchang have embraced an authentic and honest design approach to create a new Chedi resort property that is elegant, contemporary, reflect local culture and history and most importantly maximize the guest experience of a resort immersed within a tranquil yet captivating Han Fei river valley. The resort buildings overlook Hanfei riverbanks and are flanked by naturally sculpted stone cliffs. Resort Central facility functions are housed within separate low rise pavilions, each featuring clean modern forms with outwardly focused internal spaces and large glazed windows that blur the threshold between internal spaces and external views. Rich textured locally available stones will be used as building cladding for base of buildings. Modern interpretation of traditional Chinese building elements will be subtly applied to key parts of the resort buildings.
